It’s tough to replace the experience and knowledge that departing Activities Director Perry Aadland had, but Chisago Lakes made their best effort in hiring Neil Fletcher, a man familiar with the area and very familiar with the position of Activities Director. Fletcher is on his way here from Blaine, where he served as the Bengals’ AD for the past five years. “Anoka-Hennepin is going through an administrative reorganization due to a lost civil suit,” Fletcher explained. “Activities Directors are treated like other Assistant Principals in all of the high schools. I was short on seniority and would have possibly been bumped to another school as an AP. I love being an AD and that possible bumping got me looking. At the same time, CL had an opening with Perry retiring. I couldn't be luckier!” Just because he is coming from Blaine, though, doesn’t mean Fletcher doesn’t have plenty of ties to the area. Fletcher was the Activities Director at North Branch High School from 1995-2000 and was the assistant principal there from 2000 to 2007. While he was there, his son Matt graduated in 2004 and enjoyed a great basketball career. He still holds the school’s career scoring record at over 1,500 points. His daughter Sara also graduated from North Branch in 2008. “Matt had some great friendships with some of the Chisago Lakes athletes,” he said. “Sara also had many friends at CL through the years.” Fletcher was excited about his upcoming switch, saying, “Chisago Lakes has a great staff. They have many coaches who are thought highly of throughout the state. They also have great facilities. All students in activities benefit from the great fields, gyms, arenas and the auditorium.”
