Phyllis J. Popa

Phyllis J. Popa, age 78 of Chisago City, and formerly of South St. Paul, passed away on July 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by parents John and Frieda Susame, a baby brother; and son-in-law Ben Garbow. Phyllis is survived by her husband George of 59 years; children Pam (Dave) Ackerman, Jeff (Sue) Popa, Cindy Garbow, and Kathy (Jim) Finn; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Jan (Ver) Rogers and family; sister-in-law Ann Bongard and family.

Phyllis and her family operated Channel Boat Rental in Chisago City for over 20 years. She enjoyed ice fishing and visits with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a 13 year Florida resident – enjoying the warm weather, walks on the beach for sea shells, ocean fishing and swimming in the pool. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, Minnesota with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to families or donor’s choice. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.
