Patricia “Pat” Ann Sondrall, 84 of Chisago City, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Margaret S. Parmly Residence, in Chisago City.
Pat was born December 10, 1928 in Fargo to Harold M. and Dagmar Briggs. She graduated from Moorhead High School and completed a degree in education at Moorhead State Teacher’s College. On June 16, 1950, she married Maurice Sondrall and they moved to Chicago, IL. She taught at Bateman Private School for 26 years and at the North Center for the Handicapped for 15 years, both located in Chicago. She continued her teaching career in Fargo area schools as a substitute and as a private piano and voice instructor for many budding musicians.
Following her husband’s death she relocated in Fargo, and was very active in volunteer work including serving as co-director of the Silver Follies Productions at the Fargo/Moorhead Community Theater and co-coordinated the Silver Follies Outreach. She was featured in a large advertising production for Kroll’s Diner, member of FM Music Teachers’ Association, president of the FM Music Club, sang with the Noteable music group, chaired the Junior Music Festival at NDSU for many years and co-directed several dinner theaters at her church, Faith Lutheran in West Fargo. Pat was awarded the Fargo YMCA Woman of the Year for the Arts in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father-in-law Oscar and Violet Sondrall and by her sisters; Dolores Smith, Rachel Brogelman and brother-in-law Robert Brogelman.
Pat is survived by her sister, Eva Kate (Katsy) and Robert Hanson of Lindstrom; brother-in-law, James Smith of Frazee, MN, and her nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo Wednesday, July 10th.
A special memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Apartment building, in the Ecumen Parmly LifePointes campus in Chisago City.
