Donna J. Minick

Donna Jean (Dettmann) Minick, age 84 of North Branch, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Ecumen North Branch.

Donna was born on January 1,1929 in Ceylon Township, Minnesota to parents, John and Emma (Schueler) Dettmann Slaughter. Donna lived with her parents in Ceylon, Trimont and Claremont. She graduated from Claremont High School in 1946. She married Russell Ira Minick on July 20, 1947 in Welcome. Donna and Russell moved to North Branch in 1968. Donna was a homemaker for many years raising four children. She worked for Glomer, Inc. in Lindstrom in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Later she worked for Control Data Corp. in Cambridge retiring in 1987. Donna enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading a good mystery book, visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the companionship of her dogs, Sugar and Pepper.

Donna is survived by her son, Michael (Marie) Minick of Lino Lakes; daughter, Debra (David) Keiser of St. Cloud; son, Kevin (Renee) Minick of North Branch and son, Terry Minick of North Branch; her six grandchildren, Michael (Monica) Minick, Nathan (Jen) Minick, Mitchell Minick, Kelly (Joe) Keiser Berthiaume, Kyle Keiser and Cassie Minick; four great grandchildren, Paige Stevenson and Peyton, Adriana and Piper Minick; sisters-in-law Ardis Courtney of Ninety Six, SC and Alice Minick of Fairmont as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Minick; her parents, John and Emma Dettmann Slaughter; stepfather, William Slaughter; brother, Osmar Dettmann and sister, Alfrieda Schmidt.

A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch. A private family service and interment will take place at the Welcome Cemetery in Welcome, Minnesota. Donna’s family wishes to thank her caregivers at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Regency Hospital in Golden Valley, Ecumen Parmly in Chisago City and Ecumen Villages North Branch.
