He was born on March 18, 1928 to Otto and Ida (Johanson) Trulson of Sunrise, Minnesota. Wally graduated from North Branch High School in 1946 and planned to enter the army, but instead stayed home to help his ailing father on the farm. In 1955 he married Lucretia Orne from Pepin, Wisconsin and continued farming for a couple more years before going to work as a bookkeeper at Branch Manufacturing in North Branch, Minnesota. Wally stayed with Branch for over 35 years where he worked his way into ownership and eventually sold his share of the business to his partner Delmar Fairbanks, when he retired in 1992.
When Wally and Lu first got married, they started with very humble beginnings and didn’t even have indoor plumbing for their first two years together. That changed though and a few years later they moved from the farm in Sunrise to a new home off of County Road 14, three miles out of North Branch. Wally and Lu were married for over 51 years until her passing in 2007. Together they had four children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. After retirement, Wally and Lu enjoyed their time together by wintering in Mesa, Arizona and taking a few trips to Europe, Japan and Greece.
Throughout his life, Wally was very active in his community and served on the North Branch District School Board, the Green Acres Country Care Center Board, was an active member of the St. Croix camp of the Gideons and held numerous positions at Kost Evangelical Free Church and on its board.
Wally was a remarkable husband, father, businessman and humanitarian. He always had a smile and a good thing to say to everyone he met. He is greatly loved and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents Otto and Ida Trulson, his three brothers Henry, Eldor and Detloph Trulson, and his wife Lucretia Trulson. He is survived by his four children Darrel (Ellie) Trulson of Chisago City, Darla Trulson Giles of Forest Lake, Dalen Trulson of Brooklyn Center and Deanna (Andrew) Mobeck of Forest Lake; his nine grandchildren Derek, Daniel (Mirra), Joshua (Auma), Michael (Heather), and Kristen Trulson, Lauren (Peter) Ciambriello, Mason Giles, Jeremy and Makayla Mobeck and his three great grandchildren Siloe and Ariya Trulson and Roselia Ciambriello.
