Gertrude M. Lindo, of Chisago City, died Thursday February 27 at Parmly LifePointes at the age of 94.
Gertrude was born July 13, 1919 in Lindstrom to Harry and Myrtle Johnson. She graduated from North Branch High School in 1936. She went on to earn her teaching certificate in 1937 and taught school the following four years. She married Melvin Lindo on July 11, 1941, and at that point became an active participant in farming.. During these years Melvin and Gertrude raised five children, sons Marvin, Lowell, daughters Marlene, LuAnne, and Janice. She was a life long member of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. She participated in teaching Sunday school and many other activities within the church. She also was an active volunteer at Parmly LifePointes for many years. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Myrtle, husband Melvin, and daughter Janice Rambow.
She is survived by her sisters Bernette Wikelius, Harriet Ryberg; brother Ellis Johnson; sons Marvin (Kathy) of Shoreview, Lowell (Kathy) of Center City, daughters Marlene (Dale) Abear of Aitkin, LuAnne (Charles) Cedergren of St. Joseph, son –in-law Dave Rambow of Shevlin, 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, March 3 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
