Gene was born to Beulah and James W. Ganley on November 2, 1925 growing up in Minneapolis and Rockford, Minnesota. Gene served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater from August 10, 1943 – December 17, 1946.
In 1961, he married Darlene Hill and together they raised four boys: James (Carol) of Cushing, Wisconsin, William of Lindstrom, Allyn, and Terrance of Lindstrom.
In 1963, Gene and Dar moved to their farm in Lindstrom where he was a self-employed expert wallpaper hanger, painter, and farmer. Gene enjoyed dancing, Big Band music, road trips, auctions, collecting cars, raising Hereford cattle, horses, border collies, participating at dog trials, camping, national rodeo finals, politics, cold beer and great conversation.
Gene is survived by wife Darlene of 54 years; sons James (Carol) Ganley, William Ganley, and Terrance Ganley; grandchildren April, Amy, Jesse, Jamie, Amber, Anna, Justin, and Misty; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends and his beloved dogs. He will be greatly missed.
