Audrey was born on May 12, 1928 to Edwin and Eva Bloomquist of Shafer, MN where she and her five siblings where raised until the time of her mother’s death when Audrey was four. After that Audrey was raised by Ethel and Royal Melander on what was known and currently is Peterson Family Farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Taylors Falls public school and graduated in 1946. After high school she attended Minneapolis Business School. After many years of attending Sunday school and getting confirmed together, Richard and Audrey starting dating.
On June 4, 1949 they wed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved to a farm in Almelund in 1952 where they had their first two sons Bryan and Dennis. In 1955 they moved to the current Peterson Family Farm, where they had two more sons Gary and Mark, and have lived for the last 61 years.
Audrey’s passions were singing in the church choir, being involved in ladies church circle, reading all sorts of books, sewing, quilting and embroidering, playing piano and teaching her grand kids to play. Together Richard and Audrey loved spending time snowmobiling, working on the Farm, polka dancing and attending sporting events for sons and grandchildren.
Audrey is survived by her beloved family: loving husband of 66 years Richard Peterson; four sons: Bryan (Joyce) Peterson, Dennis (Judy) Peterson, Gary (Beverly) Peterson and Mark (Kristen) Peterson; 10 grandchildren Kevin (Tara) Peterson, Eddie (Lyanne) Peterson, Corey Magner, Allison Zaloudek, Lindsey (Chris) Thorsen, Jason (Bobbi Jo Mallery) Peterson, Jessica (Jeffrey) Ross, Jamie (Michael Carlson) Peterson, Tyler Peterson and Kylia Peterson; 10 great grandchildren Amber Peterson, Kaitlyn Peterson, Carly Peterson, Cole Peterson, Makenna Thorsen, Alexa Thorsen, Kysen Christiansen, Jerzie Jo Peterson, Jocelyn Ross, and Madison Carlson; sister Harriet Petersen and brother Carl Bloomquist, brothers-in-law Wally Lucier and Jim Britz and her cousin and sister-in-law Marcella Peterson.
Audrey is preceeded in death by her parents Edwin and Eva Bloomquist; siblings Rosella, Bernette, Myrna. aunt and uncle Ethel and Royal Melander, and great grandchild Drew Thorsen.
Many thanks to the North Branch Ecumen Nurses and Fairview Lakes Hospice and all her loving friends and family who came to visit to show their loving care and support through these past few weeks.
Funeral services were Monday January 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund. Interment was in the Almelund Cemetery. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home www.grandstrandfh.com
