Richard Peterson
Richard was born August 17, 1927 to Albin and Emma Peterson of Taylors Falls, MN where he and his four brothers were raised. There they owned a dairy farm, where he and his brothers were expected to help. Richards father died when he was young and in order to keep the family farm going he had to quit school. He and his younger brother Curtis ran the farm while his three older brothers went into the service. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. After many years of attending Sunday school and getting confirmed together, Richard and Audrey starting dating. June 4, 1949 they wed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved to a farm in Almelund in 1952 where they had their first two sons, Bryan and Dennis. In 1955 they moved to the current Peterson Family Farm where they had two more sons, Gary and Mark. They lived there for 61 years until Audrey passed in January of 2016. Richard then moved to The Lodge in Taylors Falls, MN.
Richard’s main passion was farming, and he did so successfully for over 70 years. He loved going to auctions and attending the Almelund Threshing Show every year. Richard also enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and deer hunting with family. Together Richard and Audrey loved spending time snowmobiling, working on the farm, polka dancing and attending sporting events for sons and grandchildren. He also served as a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Council and on the Almelund Creamery Board.
Richard is survived by his beloved family: four sons, Bryan (Joyce) Peterson, Dennis (Judy) Peterson, Gary (Beverly) Peterson and Mark (Kristen) Peterson; 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Tara) Peterson, Eddie (Lyanne) Peterson, Corey Magner, Allison Zaloudek, Lindsey (Chris) Thorsen, Jason (Bobbi Jo Mallery) Peterson, Jessica (Jeffrey) Ross, Jamie (Michael) Carlson, Tyler Peterson and Kylia Peterson; 10 great grandchildren, Amber Peterson, Kaitlyn Peterson, Carly Peterson, Cole Peterson, Makenna Thorsen, Alexa Thorsen, Kysen Christiansen, Jerzie Jo Peterson, Jocelyn Ross, and Madison Carlson; sister-in-law Marcella Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife Audrey Peterson; parents, Albin and Emma Peterson; siblings, Alvin (Doris) Peterson, Burton (Cecil) Peterson, Ralph (Wanda) Peterson, and Curtis Peterson; great grandchild Drew Thorsen.

Funeral Service 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund, Minnesota with visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the service at church.
