Ryan A. Johnson was born December 3, 1971 to parents Dean and Mary Johnson.  

He lived in Center City and Lindstrom, Minnesota and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.  Ryan graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1989.  He played hockey since kindergarten when he joined mini-mites.

Ryan started framing houses in his 20’s and started his own roofing and contracting company in the 1990’s.  He and his girlfriend built their dream house in 2003 and welcomed their daughter Kristi Kjome Johnson, in 2004.

Ryan’s health took a turn in 2012-2013.  He had inherited the same kidney disease that his father Dean and sister Pauline had (Polycystic Kidney Disease).  He had a hard time accepting that he had this disease and invented many alternate theories as to what was really happening to his body.

Ryan died suddenly and unexpectedly on November 14, 2017.  He is preceded in death by his father Dean Johnson, his paternal grandparents Leslie and Eunice Johnson, his maternal grandparents Ernest and Helen Dombrock, his aunt Janet Duffy, and his uncle Ronald Dombrock.

Ryan is survived by his daughter Kristi Kjome Johnson, his mother Mary Johnson, his sister Pauline (Adam) Kabe, his nephew Justin Johnson, his uncle Chuck (Karen) Johnson, aunt Gloria Bardill and many cousins.
His family respectfully requests that we work to end the stigma of mental illness.  We don’t feel shame when a loved one has cancer.  It should be no different when a loved one is mentally ill.  If Ryan could have gotten help sooner, perhaps he’d still be with us.

Memorial Service 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Minnesota.  Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  A private interment will take place at a later date.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
