Buffalo 5, Chisago Lakes, 2
Despite losing their first match of the year, the Wildcats still have played great tennis so far.

Buffalo has a tough squad this year, and they are very seasoned from top to bottom.

Bailey Olson got a win for CL at fourth singles 7-5, 7-6 (7-0). The Wildcats’ other point came from Jacob Fish and Will Anderson, who swept their way to a 6-4, 6-2 win at second doubles.

Chisago Lakes 4, Cambridge-Isanti 3
The ‘Cats bounced back against the upstart Bluejackjets on Tuesday, April 23 on a sunny day at the Chisago Lakes Middle School.

The ‘Cats got wins from both Olson and Cole Otte at third and fourth singles, and then doubles came through. Reece Lawlor and Evan Ginter won 6-3, 6-3 at first doubles and Jamie Mower and Isaac Aldrich won handily at third doubles, 6-3, 6-2.

Chisago Lakes 6, St. Francis 1
Chisago Lakes remained strong in their play against the Saints on a windy night.

The top three singles teams won handily. Drew Hanson won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles. Ethan Thompson won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Bailey Olson won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

All three doubles teams had similar results. Ginter and Lawlor won 6-0, 6-2. Fish and Anderson cruised 6-2, 6-1 and Mower and Aldrich finished things off with a 6-1, 6-1 win at third doubles.

Chisago Lakes 7, Big Lake 0
The roll continued for CL, as they crushed Big Lake in their Mississippi 8 Conference match up.

The Hornets scored only seven individual points. Chisago Lakes’ doubles teams didn’t allow a single point, with all three teams winning 6-0, 6-0. Olson also won by that margin at thirf singles, and Hanson and Thompson won handily despite giving up a couple points each.

Andover 5, Chisago Lakes 2
The ‘Cats were handed their second defeat of the season, albeit a non-conference one, when they took on Andover on Saturday, April 27.

Olson was the lone singles winner for CL, beating his opponent 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, Ginter and Lawlor won 7-5, 6-1 at the first spot, but the other matches didn’t quite go CL’s way. They got a third set match out of their third doubles team, but Aldrich and Mower fell eventually. Fish and Anderson challenged the second Andover pair at times, but came up short 3-6, 4-6, and Otte had a chance to go up early at fourth singles by lost 6-7 (3-7) in tiebreak before dropping the second set 3-6.

The loss dropped CL to 6-2 on the year, but still 5-1 in the M8C. “We have equaled our wins from last year with six, and the singles are starting to find their groove and doubles are looking better every time out,” Head Coach Jim Gillach said. “The guys are starting to play a more aggressive style of tennis and it’s been very fun to watch!”
