January 10 the sheriff’s snowmobile patrol was stationed in Harris, near the trail at 425th and Old 61. Six violations of no certificate, no registration number displayed, speed  and no stop at sign, were issued.

January 9 a theft of a vehicle from Casey’s in Taylors Falls sent law enforcement on a pursuit on Hwy. 8. At approximately the Pleasant Valley Road round-about, Center City, the authorities performed a pursuit intervention technique getting the fleeing suspect to pull over and run on foot. The K9 unit helped in apprehending the suspect. The incident began about 5 p.m.

January 8. the Casey’s store in Stacy was the scene of a theft of cigarettes that went haywire. Authorities were told two suspects dropped a glass container, about 1:19 p.m.,  to distract employees and then grabbed cartons of smokes from the secure area. There was a tussle and a suspect’s cell phone was left behind, and fingerprints from a carton of cigarettes that was dropped will be useful.

Catalytic convertors were reported cut off of vehicles overnight parked in Chisago City. Lakes Area Police are investigating.

January 6 a semi trailer truck caught fire, about 6:20 a.m. on Hwy. 8 between Shoquist Lane and County Road 14 and traffic was affected. Local departments extinguished the fire, directed traffic and there were no injuries reported.
 January 5 an animal trap reported stolen from a spot in Rushseba Township.

Two crashes on Hwy. 8 in the Lindstrom stretch. One was at 8 a.m. and involved a vehicle making a turn movement at the Motel and hitting a vehicle westbound on Hwy. 8.  The second was at 9:16 a.m. at North Lakes Trail and First,  when a  car  ran a red light while northbound and hit a car travelling westerly on the highway. One person was transported.
