Bistodeau shot an 89 on the first day of sections which kept her in the mix. As a bonus, the whole North Branch team finished in third place after day one, which qualified all of the girls for the second day.
Bistodeau improved on her score, trimming a handful of strokes nd shot an 86. She had eight pars, which is an impressive display of consistency for the senior. It was even more impressive considering temperatures soared into the high 90s during the round, which required Bistodeau to keep focus on her game while others around her struggled to beat the heat.
“Hailey played a great two days of golf, which just caps off the year she’s had for us,” Head Coach Jerome Huselid said.
“She kept her focus in the heat and didn’t allow anything to throw her game off.”
Bistodeau’s journey will now continue at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. The par 72 course provides numerous challenges for Class AA golfers, but if Bistodeau can keep in sharp form like she was in sections, she should do well.
The state tournament in this class is also June 15-16. However it comes out it doesn’t diminish all the records they broke this year and the growth they felt as a program, the coach concluded.
