This weekend is Center City’s turn in the spotlight.  Center City Days runs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday any-and-all are invited.

Friday the fun starts with a giant rummage sale at the CL Lutheran Church that starts at 8 a.m.  The popular kiddie parde lines-up at 5:45 p.m. at the church, and makes its way to Water Tower Park along Center Ave.

Once at the park, you are invited to a community picnic.  They do ask that you please bring a side dish to share.  The night continues with bingo at the fire hall beginning at 7 p.m.

Saturday, the fun starts early with a vendor fair at Marine Dock and Lift.  There will be kids games in the same location beginning at 11 a.m.  Back at the fire hall, there is a cribbage tournament that runs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Grab your friends and search for the missing lutefisk at 1 p.m.  Clues will be posted at the tent every half hour.

There is a great magic show at the tent that begins at 2:45 p.m.

Back at the church,  enjoy a community pig roast from 4-6 p.m.  The event is free and oh so good.  Bring a lawnchair.

The grand day parade will start at 6 p.m. and runs from the Government Center up Summit Ave.

A great local band called Chkn Shed takes the stage under the tent at 6:30 p.m. with the street dance following featuring Big Toe and the Jam.

Sunday come to the fire hall for a pancake breakfast from 8-noon.  There is a clogger dancing show at 11 a.m. under the tent and a car show at Marine Dock and Lift from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.  Finally at 1 p.m.  a historic walking tour of Center City  starts at the Pizza Pub.

Plenty to do and oh so close to home.

Please join me Wednesday at the Relay For Life event held at Chisago Lake  Lutheran Church in Center City.  All of us have been touched by cancer in some way.  This is a moving event that pays homage to those who lost their battle with this disgusting disease.  I would encourage you to come out, you will be glad you did.

Everyone is invited to come to The Northern Lake Tavern & Grill Thursday.  The crew from Twin Cities Live will be doing their entire show from the restaurant. The show was also slated to be in downtown Lindstrom this week at Farm & Thread.

Finally, two shout outs this week.  Congrats to Alli and Neal on the birth of their daughter Jordan.   You will be great parents.

Happy Birthday to Helen Fosdick my Swedish teacher from high school. Helen turns 100 August 7. She was a staple at Chisago Lakes high school for decades.
