The Wildcat softball team, ranked eighth in Class 3A, is on a roll, winning six of their last seven games as they head toward another potential state tournament experience. They swept a doubleheader at home with the Big Lake Hornets on Tuesday, May 2, winning 7-2 and 8-0. The next day, they headed to Jefferson Fields in St. Peter, winning twice against the St. Peter Saints, 6-2 and 12-1. On Friday, May 5, they suffered their only loss during the seven-game stretch, falling 2-1 at home to the New Ulm Eagles. And this past Tuesday, they headed to Cambridge to play the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets and swept their third straight doubleheader, winning 3-0 and 11-5. Softball Squiggles
The Wildcats (9-3) continue their busy schedule with five games in the next seven days. Tonight, they welcome the St. Francis Fighting Saints to Chisago Lakes High School for a 5 p.m. game. Tomorrow, they will play two games under the lights at Mark Park in Princeton. At 6 p.m., they will take on the Cloquet Lumberjacks, and in the 8 p.m. nightcap will play the host Princeton Tigers. Next Tuesday, May 16, the North Branch Vikings will head down County Road 14 to Lindstrom for a 4 p.m. rematch with the Wildcats. The Wildcats lost to the Vikings 3-0 in the season opener. And on Wednesday, May 17, the Vikings will head to St. Francis to take on the Fighting Saints for the second time in less than a week. That game starts at 5 p.m.
