North Branch Area Middle School Special Education Teacher Scott Schraufnagel was presented the Outstanding Leadership Award by Education Minnesota Central. Schraufnagel, who was nominated by Instructional Coach Michelle Trunk (pictured with Schraufnagel), received the award at the Outstanding Leadership Awards Banquet for the East Central IO Teacher Unions at the Northern Lights Ballroom in Pease on Wednesday, April 26.

In his career at NBAPS, Schraufnagel has served as the Sunrise River School’s union building representative, and currently works on contract negotiations, and mentors new teachers to the district. In her introductory remarks at the banquet, Trunk called Schraufnagel, “a great teacher who advocates for his students, a wonderful colleague who brings a smile and a laugh wherever he goes, and a fabulous friend.

Schraufnagel has served families at North Branch Area Public Schools for 20 years.
