Halloween all around us
Well we are well into Halloween season and fall decorating. That means the ever popular Ojiketa Haunt is up and running. This year’s theme is The Witches of Cranberry Bog. Beginning Friday and running on Oct 20, 21, 27 and 28, you are invited to Ojiketa Regional Park to take a scary stroll through the woods and even inside some of the buildings. Who knows what you may encounter. The gates open at 7 p.m. and closes at 9:30 p.m. Cost is super reasonable at $5 per person or $3 if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food shelf. New this year, they will have a food truck on site so you can enjoy some yummy food before you get scared to death.
I know it’s a couple of weeks out, but mark your calendars for Chisago City’s Falloween event. It takes place on October 28 at Ojiketa Regional Park and runs from 2-4 p.m.
Dress your kids, grandkids and even your pets (on a leash of course) up in their favorite costumes and head to the park. There they will enjoy a magic show, a not-so-scary haunted house, a costume contest, a pumpkin hunt, games, pony rides and trick-or-treating in the Ojiketa cabins. Did I mention the event is free? Ojiketa Park is located at 27500 Kirby Blvd., in Chisago City.
This Saturday you and everyone you know is invited to the Chisago Lakes Lions Waffle Day Celebration. Held at the Chisago Lake Township building at 12400 316th Street in Lindstrom, you will enjoy Belgian waffles with your favorite toppings along with sausage, milk and juice. I have had their waffles before folks, and yes they are amazing. You can purchase tickets at the door for $10 and kids 5 and under eat for free. See you out there!
Also this weekend, Susie Sandberg who owns Almelund Mercantile is holding their 17th anniversary. If you have never been there, her store is amazing. Located in downtown Almelund (across from the church) it is filled with all things Scandinavia including some amazing treats and organic foods. and Susie is one of the neatest people you will ever meet. Her anniversary runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Stop in and say hi.
One more Halloween event for you... Bring your kids all dressed up to downtown Lindstrom for the annual Trick-or-Treat on Main Street.
Businesses all along Highway 8 will be handing candy out to kids as well as some vendors in Memorial Park. The event runs from 4-6 p.m., have fun!
