Shafer City Council met September 19 for a regular meeting.  Council member Nick Brehm was absent.

The council passed a resolution accepting donations to the Shafer Days fund from local food truck Center City Swine Circus in the amount of $25.  The food truck was one of two serving at Shafer Days.

The council then passed a resolution adopting assessments for unpaid sewer and water charges.  Five properties will have unpaid charges assessed to their property taxes totaling $3,651.77.  The largest property owing $1,256.20.

In new business, the council then passed a motion by Mayor Paula Hanson to move City Council meetings start times to 6 p.m.  All members agreed and the motion passed.

In the engineer’s report city engineer Lucas Jones told the council Osseo Construction spread more topsoil and seeded the water tower project again.  Osseo will be looking for a final payment on the project at the next meeting.

Jones then said the city will be surveying the Shafer Oaks development for a potential private road take over as requested by the homeowners.  Currently the homes pay a HOA and plowing and road maintenance is taken care of by an outside company.  Residents have asked the city to take control of the road which is built narrower than city requirements.  This would require easements on properties.

The council adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
