Delores Lillian-Charlotte Allen, age 93, of Center City, MN passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Indianhead Hospital, Shell Lake, WI.
Delores was born on June 23, 1930 to Dennie and Hazel (Nordeen) Magnuson at home in Sunrise, Minnesota. She attended and graduated class of 1948 from Chi-Hi in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
On August 6, 1950, Delores was united in marriage to Robert Allen at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two children. Delores and Robert moved around a lot with the Army, eventually landing back on the farm in Center City where she still resided. Delores worked at Hazelden as a cook for over 20 years. She also helped her parents out with their museum in her younger years.
Delores volunteered her time making meals once a month with the Christian Fellowship, meals on wheels and making quilts for the homeless with Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church.
Delores enjoyed cooking, quilting, traveling, taking bus tours, being a caretaker and mowing her lawn. She especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Delores is survived by her two children, Cindy (Hank) Graber of Spooner, WI, Dennie (Debbie) Allen of Taylors Falls, MN; four grandchildren, Christy (Josh) Ashman of Haugen, WI, Brian (Shari) Sheehan of Shell Lake, WI, Brandi (Jim) Haupt of Spooner, WI and Adam (Laura) Sheehan of Eau Claire, WI; two step-grandchildren, Heidi Graber of Jacksonville, Fl and Chad (Jessica) Graber of St. Augustine, FL; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Jordan, Aftyn, Ben, Max, Elle and Brooklyn; eight step great-grandchildren, Madi, Ali, Lucy, Rosie, Jaden, Hailey, James and Laura; nephews, Mal Maloney, Ron Allen and Larry Allen; many family and friends who loved her.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Dennie and Hazel Magnuson; husband Robert; sister Jeanette Sower and son-in-law Butch Phinn.
Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 3, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m, Friday, February 2, at Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Center City, MN.
