Celebration was still a good time
Well, Mother Nature tried her hardest to cancel the Celebration of the Lakes. But in true Chisago Lakes’ fashion, we made due with what we had. And you know what? We still managed to have a good time doing so.
Yes it would have been great being on the lakes; the radar runs is always a massive attendance draw, do that was a big hit. But what were we supposed to do, sit in the fetal position and cry woe is we?
All of the off-ice events were well attended and people had a a great time. Even the fireworks were altered due to the ice, but still managed to be great.
A huge shout-out to the Chamber and all of the groups like the Good Neighbors Club, all of the local churches that held events, Winehaven and the Uncommon Loon. Without your hard work and volunteering, this celebration would have been a dud.
Thanks to Chisago City for hosting the kids’ movie night at Ojiketa.
Thanks to you there were smiles all around!
As it states on our Celebration of the Lakes picture page (10), the raffle winners were: ATV - Linda Miller, $1,000 Polaris gift card - Brian Schindler, $750 FXR gift certificate - Justin Klein, and the $500 Bikeman tune up - Kim Giannin. Please contact the Chamber at 651-257-1177 to claim your prizes.
I had big plans for that ATV, I hope you enjoy it!
Now that the Celebration of the Lakes is in the rear view mirror, it is time to look forward to the 2024 Chisago Lakes Showcase that is just around the corner. It used to be called the Home and Business show, but the show has transformed to keep up with public demand. Most people, including the vendors asked for a one day show and it is now reduced to one day (March 23) at the Chisago Lakes Wildcat Center.
Businesses, there is still time to register for the show.
We have a few ads in this paper where you can scan the QR code to link you to the registration site. You can certainly call the Chamber at 651-257-1177 as well. We are hoping for a bigger show with there being less onus on vendors for setting aside an entire weekend. I would encourage you to register sooner than later.
With February half way gone, that can only mean one thing, fish fry time. Yummy yummy fried fish. In fact, St. Bridget’s kicks off the fish fry season tomorrow (Friday) the 16th. The fish fry at the Lindstrom church runs from 5-7pm and features all you can eat cod with all the fixings.
I imagine the lines will be fairly long, seeing as it’s the first week of the feed.
I have had St. Bridget’s fish many times and it is delicious. They do sell to-go orders and pick-up for those are from 3:30-4:30pm. See you there - my mouth is watering already.
