For the third straight year, the Chisago Lakes Wildcat dance teams got to compete at the Target Center in Minneapolis as part of the state meet, and they all cherished their experience again, regardless of the results.
The Wildcats finished 10th in the Jazz category and 11th in High Kick, which were improvements over their finishes last year.
For 14 of the 24 varsity athletes, it was their first time competing at the state meet, but the nerves didn’t show as the girls nailed their performances. “The new athletes and their veteran teammates rose to the occasion and gave their best performances of the season,” coaches said after the meet.
The Wildcats’ Section 2AA opponents swept the state championships, with Benilde-St. Margaret’s winning the Jazz title and Totino-Grace winning the Kick state championship.
