Stacy City Council met March 12 for a regular meeting, all members were present.

In public comment, Chisago County Commissioner Ben Montzka told the council the county has allocated $100,000 from the levy for the first study for replacing the County Road 19 bridge.

Parks committee representative Carolyn Cagle told the council the maintenance department is planning on fixing the broken slide at Lions Park and three new bike racks are being installed around the city.

The council then voted in favor of Midco Diving and Marine Services for the cleaning of the water tower interior.  The company will perform an inspection done with divers on 20 different areas and give reports including video of the inspection.  They will also remove up to three inches of sediment from the bottom of the tower.  Cost for the service is $3,876.  The council agreed unanimously on the contract.

In the engineer’s report, city engineer Dan Boyum told the council he has had discussion with Dresel Contracting about price discrepancies from last year’s street project.  There is an added $12,000 the city is disputing in charges the council felt Stacy was not responsible for such as de-watering.  The council agreed on a payout of $40,489.57 which does not include the $12,000.

The council then voted unanimously to appoint election judges for the special election that will take place April 9, 2024. (Voting guide is in this week’s paper.)

The council then approved a gambling permit to the Northwest Area Jaycees for an April 28 event at Lent Town Hall.

The council then read a letter submitted by current Sports Bar Manager Aerica Benson stating she would resign as manager effective April 10.  Benson did state she would like to remain as an employee after stepping down. The council accepted the resignation and agreed on Benson staying employed.

The council then passed a few ordinances that included  updating the city’s code fee schedule. The council passed another ordinance adopting the city’s tobacco license application.

The council then approved an election  canvassing and recount date of April 17.

Council adjourned 8:45 p.m.
