So much to do this weekend!
This weekend is Shafer Days and Apple Fest. Oh and did I mention Stagecoach Days in Wyoming?
No reason to fill the tank with gas, all of your fun is right here locally.
Shafer Days runs Friday and Saturday and has a ton of great events to take in. Friday evening has the very popular Bingo at the fire hall. There will be food and beverages available for purchase.
Saturday Shafer Days gets rolling with an awesome pancake breakfast at the fire hall. Shafer also has a great car show that lines the downtown streets. Search for the missing clog from posted clues and take home some cold hard cash. Clues will be posted at City Hall and the fire hall.
There is a bags tournament, a petting zoo, a kids’ carnival and a fire department demonstration Saturday. At 12:30, make sure to take in the 1921 Shafer Bank robbery re-enactment. All day there will be vendors and food trucks on the streets. The Shafer Days parade makes its way through town at 4pm. The night ends at Ole’s Crossroads with the band “8foot4” taking the stage at 8pm.
On Sunday, in Almelund, all are invited to the 29th annual Apple Festival. Imagine everything you can about apples, and poof it’s right there in one place. Fresh picked apples? Apple desserts? Apple sausage? Apple butter? Yes! You name it’s all there for your enjoyment. There’s some great collections in museums that you can wander through and really get a sense of the rich history of Almelund and Amador. You can even take a model T car ride through town free of charge. There is no fee to get in the grounds around the schoolhouse, but this is a fundraiser for the Amador Heritage Museum, so anything you purchase will definitely help.
Remember a few months ago when I solicited plantar fasciitis relief suggestions? The responses were amazing and I thank you. I believe I tried the vast majority of them. I did happen to find something that helped me far beyond the boots, compression socks and frozen bottles of water. I broke down and got a massage. More specifically a massage for my fasciitis. People, this is amazing! Shannon from Holding Space has all but eliminated my foot pain. Worth every penny. In my case it was all in my calf muscles. The massages concentrated on that area and poof the pain was gone. It’s the best decision I have made in a long long time.
