Egg hunt and Bingo on Saturday

This weekend is Chisago City’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at Paradise Park.  The hunt is Saturday at 2pm.  If you have never brought your youngsters to the hunt, I highly encourage it.  The folks that put it on, have so many things for the kids to partake in besides hunting for eggs in the park.  There are age groups for each hunt, to keep big kids from running over the little tots.  The groups also have dedicated egg hunt areas, so your child will definitely have a chance to collect as few or many as they choose.  There is an egg hunt, kids’ games, a chance for photos with the Easter Bunny, a boys hat and girls bonnet contest, golden eggs will be hidden among the other eggs which gets the lucky golden egg finder a fabulous prize. There’s also food available for purchase and a coloring contest with prizes awarded.

Also on Saturday, the American Legion would like to invite you and your family to the Uncommon Loon Brewery in Chisago City for the annual Spring Bingo.  The Bingo begins at 7pm with the first game free to play.  Cards run 50 cents each and three for a buck.  There will be meat raffles during the games as well as snacks and refreshments offered by the Boy Scouts.

We had an interesting weekend on our block in Center City.  Early Saturday morning I was approached by a young man who had a camera around his neck, with a huge telephoto lens.  He told me that as he was driving down our road, he had spotted a rare-to-Minnesota bird, the White Winged Dove at one of our feeders.  I tried to act interested (I am not the bird lover in our family) and gave him permission to sit on our property and take photos (see page 13) of the bird.  All fine and well.  Little did we know that he posted the sighting on a bird watcher app.  Yep, you guessed it, pretty soon our street (which is a no parking street due to how narrow the road is) was lined with vehicles and people with huge cameras.  It became a circus on our sleepy little road.  I am married to a nature lover and fully understand how people can get excited over something like this, but these folks were parked in front of driveways, no parking signs, and even the lone fire hydrant on our street.

No, I did not go out and scold any of the birders, and eventually the bird made it’s way to someone else’s yard.  Hopefully it is a yard next to a WalMart to accommodate the traffic.
