Sandra (Sandy) Schroeder, age 82 of Chisago City, MN peacefully passed away at Encore of North Branch on Friday, April 4, 2025.  

Sandy was born in Rice Lake, WI to Thomas and Margaret Smith on November 12, 1942. She was the oldest of six children. At a young age, the family moved to Fairfax, MN where she later met David Schroeder. The two eventually became high school sweethearts and were married in January of 1964. 

In 1970, David and Sandy settled down on their farm on Ivywood Trail. There they raised their three children, Bonnie, Charlie and Jay.  They raised many different animals on their farm including, cows, pigs, horses, chickens and many more. When they were able to get away, they enjoyed camping and snowmobiling – even a cross-country trip or two. 

Sandy was an RN for many years and enjoyed it as she got to meet a lot of people. In fact, she enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone she met whether it be someone she bumped into at the store or someone interesting walking down the street. She was very proud of her family and home. No matter if she knew you or just met you, she would let you know about her wonderful family and beautiful home that she loved so very much. 

Her love of people was very evident in her participation in her church. She loved to help with various events at church and would sew backpacks to hold school supplies for children in need for a yearly drive and put together care boxes of personal items for those less fortunate in other countries.  

Participating in events held by The Red Hats was also something she enjoyed along with playing cards with family and friends. She was a very competitive player!  Sandy was a very, generous soul who never forgot a birthday. She made sure you had a gift, card or got a phone call wishing you a happy birthday. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she proudly displayed her whole ice skate ornament collection and made sure everyone had a gift. 

Sandy will be dearly missed and is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Greig) Zemke of Harris, MN; sons Steven “Charlie” (Kris) of Harris, Jason (Michell) of Osceola; brothers Ronald (Cheryl) Smith, Donald (Peggy) Smith; sisters Susan Mommsen and Sonja Vanorsdel; her seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by both parents, her sister Sherry, son-in-law Scott Peltier and husband David. 

Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church (25402 Itasca Ave, Forest Lake, MN).  Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.  Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
