The Franconia town meeting was held at the Franconia Town Hall  March 11.  Highlights included updates on several road projects to take place over the next three years, including the roundabout at Highways 243 and 95, the road rebuild on 240th Street (the border between Franconia Township and the City of Scandia), the replacement of the bridge between Franconia Township and Osceola, and the relocation of the intersection of Highway 95 and Pleasant Valley Road (CR 26).

Of those four projects, the only one the township will pay for is half of the cost of the 240th Street project, with the amount still to be determined.  The town discussed having a town picnic at the town hall later this summer and authorized an initial outlay of up to $1,000 to fund the picnic. Watch for date and time later. Residents were also updated on the progress of the new town hall project. Supervisor Owen Kuhnly  said that a site plan had been completed, and the town has an estimated cost of $1.3 million to $1.5 million for the town hall building and maintenance shed, together.  He said it would be nice to get the site work done and get the maintenance shed up sometime soon.

Residents approved a 2026 levy of $946,100, an increase of three percent over the 2025 levy.  Doug Wallis was re-elected to a three-year term as supervisor, receiving all 19 votes cast.
