Helen Ann (Szeliga) Krawczewski, age 98 of Chisago City, on July 2, 2014
Preceded in death by parents, Ignatz and Jozefa Szeliga; husband Raymond; son Jerome; and brother, Alex.
Survived by sons Richard of Hugo and Tom (Barb) of Almelund;  eight grandchildren;  Mary Kay Krawczewski, Krissy Krawczewski, Tami (Chris) Cummings, Diane (Mark) Simonet, Kari (Jefferson Haines) Krawczewski, Katie (Shawn) Everson, Kimberly Krawczewski (Paul) Carhuatanta, and Jerome Krawczewski.  seven great grandchildren; Taylor, Carley, Colby, Hunter, Heaton, Braeden, and Oliver.
Helen was born in St. Paul on Dec, 23, 1915.  She attended St. Casimir’s School and Church.  Helen and Raymond met at the Polish American Club Dance Hall.  After they were married they lived on the lower Westside and had three sons, Richard, Jerome, and Tom.  Helen had her own beauty salon on the Eastside of St. Paul.  Eventually they started a family trash hauling business, Red Arrow Waste Disposal Service.   Floods forced them to move from the Westside, and they moved to a farm in White Bear Lake.  There she enjoyed taking care of her cattle, sheep, chickens, dogs, cats, and one mean goat.  Every spring, she was a frequent customer of Linder’s Greenhouse where she would purchase truckloads of flowers for her gardens.  After her husband passed, she remained on the farm for 21 years.  
Later she moved to Almelund, to a specially designed house, designed by Helen on her son, Tom’s farm.  She enjoyed scratch offs from Rod’s Country store and the bus rides to and from the North Branch Senior Center where she was a regular for bingo.
As time went on, she needed additional care and moved to Parmly LifePointes where she received excellent care and had opportunities for socializing and more bingo.  She kept the staff in stitches with her humor and shenanigans, until her passing on July 2, 2014.
Helen was a strong, proud polish woman who held strong to her core beliefs.  Family and her faith were of utmost importance.  She attended her sons’ school and extracurricular activities including fishing, raising dogs for shows and farming.  She also attended her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's  many games, recitals, and parties.  She babysat, chauffeured, crocheted blankets for them and made those perfect Pillsbury cookies.  She was available whenever needed.  She was a fantastic mother, grandma, and great grandma.  We will miss her.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, July 11 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom.  Visitation 9:30 AM to time of service.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to donor’s choice.  Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be left online at grandstrandfh.com
