Waffles and beer, are there two better things to put in my body?
This weekend has some fun things for all of us to take in locally. Saturday the Chisago Lakes Lions Club would love to invite you and everyone you know to their annual Swedish Waffle Day celebration. The awesome meal consists of Belgian waffles (all you can eat) with all the fixings (or leave it plain like I do) sausage, milk and juice and of course coffee. The meal will be at the Chisago Lake Township Hall March 16 from 8am to 11:30am. We have an ad on page 4 in this edition with all the info.
Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day so that means this weekend is St. Patrick’s weekend more or less. Jakes on the Lakes along with Tony’s Bar (formerly Al’s) and the Pizza Pub would like to invite the public to Center City Saturday and Sunday for the St. Patrick’s Day Center City Pub Crawl. The event will take place on Burns Avenue and will feature an event tent, wonderful food and drinks from al three establishments as well as a giant beer garden. You can purchase a $5 wristband from any of those businesses and that will get you specials on drinks. The $5 will go directly towards the purchase of new and the repairs of existing docks on North Center Lake, across Andrews Avenue from the establishments. There will be music, dancing and good times. There are a couple of food collections taking place that you can help you help our local food shelf.
The Good Neighbor Club is holding a month long food drive at the Uncommon Loon. They have already made a large delivery to the food shelf, so keep it up! Secondly, Chisago Lake Lutheran Church is holding a food drive Saturday at Nick and Drew’s and Brinks Market. Food drives will be at both locations from 9am to 3pm. Last year they collected a boat load of food and they are hoping to top that this year.
