The snow pushed the season opener back a day, but it was worth it as fans were treated to an extra-inning game full of good pitching, timely offense and great defensive plays.
I spent some time yesterday on the Internet looking at North Shore fishing reports and wasn't surprised to discover that most all of the rivers between Duluth and Grand Marais remain frozen (or partially frozen), causing a delay in the steelhead and Kamloops runs.
"Our record wasn't as good as last year's," said the Wildcats' third-year head coach, Corey McKinnon, "but we were a better team. We played a much tougher schedule.
The Wildcat boys and girls opened the season with an indoor meet against North Branch, Big Lake and Holy Angels at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse Friday, March 30.
