Dexter Viskoe
Dexter was born on May 28, 1944 in Superior WI. to parents Joseph and Amelia (Tedavitch). Dexter grew up on a farm in Poplar, Wisconsin, where he also attended school. Following graduation he worked on the Northern Pacific Railroad, after which Dexter joined the United States Army. He served four years in the Army, which included two tours in the Vietnam War. After returning from the military, he began his career as a Correctional Counselor for the Minnesota State Department of Corrections. Dexter was promoted to a Sargent in the intake unit and worked at both Stillwater and Lino Lakes locations, before retiring after 25 years.
Following retirement at his home in North Branch, Dexter enjoyed gardening, camping, hiking at several different state parks, fishing, and traveling to various locations just to sightsee. One of his favorite locations to travel to was Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. He was a member of the American Legion of North Branch, where he enjoyed having a few beers with friends. Dexter also enjoyed spending time with his wife, three children and four grandchildren.
Dexter is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Amelia (Tedavitch); brothers Dennis and Joseph; sisters Carole (Taylor) and Kathleen.
Dexter is survived by his wife Barbara whom he married June 1, 1968; his two sons Scott and Steve; his daughter Lisa (Jason) Leibke; his four grandchildren Emily Leibke, Adam Leibke, Zachary Viskoe, Zoey Viskoe; and his sister Judy.
Dexter will forever be loved and missed by all of his family and friends, and many memories will be held and cherished close to our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held in May. Dexter will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Harris MN., which will be officiated by St. Gregory's Church.
